Fossils are any trace of past life. They are not only the actual remains of organisms, such as teeth, bones, shell, and body fossils, but also the results of their activity, such as burrows and foot prints. Body fossils have many stages, One of the first stages is the organism becomes buried by sediment rather quickly after death or during its living life. The sediment is offertener found in water. The sediments cover them and over time the layers grow thicker and some may even get crushed the sediment compacted and turned into rock, the rocks shift move and became exposed. This process may take millions of years. After Thousands and millions of years the land is eroded and you can see the fossil.
